What's new:

2008 Asphalt Season

As we reported last season the times were changing for the Dousharm racing family. The larger trailer was replaced with a smaller one for the winter racing and we have a new toy hauler trailer that will be used for the summer asphalt racing.  I have to admit it was really nice getting out of the hot and humid weather into air conditioning.

Eric had quite a bit of work on the asphalt sled from blowing the motor part way through last years asphalt season which put a damper on our ability to make it out to the Rochester or Michigan track to date.  The sled really broke Eric's chops.  He rebuilt the motor 3 times in one week.  Good thing he knows how to do this.  From what I gather the issue was with the new (and supposedly improved) carbs that he tried to install. We were not able to get to the track until the ESTA Safety Park Dragstrip's 7th Annual Pro Sled Shootout held on July 26th & July 27th..

During the Test and Tunes on Saturday the sled was a dog topping out at 85 MPH in 1/4 of a mile.  Eric worked on the sled all day and made four trips home for some additional parts.  (Good thing it is only 45 minutes from the house).  After much frustration and work on the sled Eric was able to start getting it to behave a little more like the old sled.

Unfortunately he went out in the 3rd round.

It was a family affair as always, our kids and grandson was there to support Eric.
